What it does

Uses the tachometer as a visual knock alert: the needle moves to the 8,000-RPM display position while the alert condition is active, then returns to showing RPM. That is a display override, not a command to rev the engine to 8,000 RPM.

Select the correct file

tachknock is the original VB attachment by dbzx6r. tach knock VA is hatekarma's separately shared, explicitly untested VA adaptation. They are model variants, not a newer universal replacement. A later commenter offered to test the VA version but no completed validation report appears in the reviewed thread.

Important limitation

Actual RPM is hidden while the alert is displayed. This indicator does not diagnose a knock event or replace datalogging. The discussion contains differing trigger-value examples; inspect the actual feature and signal convention rather than copying a comment's threshold into another tune. Verify your ROM's display mapping and compatibility with any other tachometer override.
